Why do you sweat?

When the body produces heat, your body reacts to sweating. Perspiring keeps your body cool and helps keep your control internal body temperature. You can get sweating, in hot weather, while exercising, or even eating spicy foods. Sweating serves its goal quickly. 

Two main types of excessive sweating are:

  • Primary hyperhidrosis – It is a rare disorder of excessive sweating on palms, soles of the feet, etc. 
  • Secondary hyperhidrosis – It is caused by a medical condition such as diabetes, hormonal changes, or even by taking medication. 

What are the causes of Excessive Sweat?

1) Hereditary condition:

Primary hyperhidrosis is usually due to hereditary. But proof shows that you are likely to have such a condition if it runs in the family. Generally, you will start seeing symptoms during your childhood.

2)Medications:

3)Diabetics:

Excessive sweating is noticed when people have diabetics. It is also due to low blood glucose levels. People with type one diabetics can have excessive feet or some parts of the lower body. 

4)Hypothyroidism:

Another most popular reason for excessive sweating is hypothyroidism. High amounts of T4 and T3 send your body causes heart rate and blood pressure to increase and thus makes you sweat. 

5)Obesity:

If you have a high body mass index you tend to sweat more. Thus body increases to produce more temperature and sweat. Talk to your doctor to reduce weight, and then you can control excessive sweating. 

What are the Medical treatments for excessive sweating?

Treating the underlying problem may help fix the unusual sweating problem. Here are the treatments for sweating. 

  • Antidepressants treatment can help you sweat less.  
  • Botox injections can temporarily block the nerves that excite your sweat glands.
  • Iontophoresis is a medical device that temporarily blocks your sweat glands.
  • Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy is a minimally invasive surgery that reduces sweating of the armpits and palms.
